Sydney Opera House as seen from from Dawes Point
Dawes Point is right below the southern pylon of the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Situated near to the stylish Park Hyatt hotel, Dawes Point is conveniently placed close to Circular Quay and to The Rocks.
If you’re fit enough to climb 270 steps, you can climb the stairs up the inside of the south-eastern pylon of the Harbour Bridge. And near the top, you can walk out onto a hidden viewing platform and take wonderful photos of the Sydney Opera House, of Luna Park and North Sydney, and of the Sydney Harbour.
Dawes Point has such a wonderful view of the harbour and the harbour bridge, that it is a favourite spot for wedding photographers to do their formal group photos. The same goes for the boardwalk in front of the nearby wharves which have been converted to restaurants, bars and a classy shopping mall.
Dawes Point Park Sydney is also used by wedding celebrants, and is filled to capacity every New Years Eve by revellers who wait all day to be in the best vantage-point to enjoy the extravagant fireworks displays.
