Darling Harbour, exciting hub of shopping and entertainment

Darling Harbour, Sydney

A century ago, Sydney’s Darling Harbour was known as Cockle Bay, and was nothing more than a run-down wharf area.

Today, Darling Harbour has Sydney’s biggest Exhibition Halls, Convention Centre, a classy (but not exhorbitant) Shopping Mall, Restaurants, Bars, Coffe Shops and just about everything else you can think of.

Darling Harbour is just a short walk from Sydney’s Town Hall, or walk to the Chinese Garden of Friendship, the Powerhouse Museum or Sydney’s Star City Casino.

It even has a floating stage on the water for open-air concerts, plus other open-air performance arenas. And Darling Harbour is right in the middle bewteen the Maritime Museum and Sydney Aquarium, Pyrmont Bridge and Sydney’s Chinatown.

Today Darling Harbour is one of the most enjoyable places to visit, for people of any ages.

You can walk there easily from any of the places I just mentioned, or you might like to make your entrance via a short journey using Sydney’s Monorail or Tram service. The Monorail actually goes over the Pyrmont Bridge and gives you an amazing view of Darling Harbour and the west side of the Sydney CBD.

You can get off the Monorail at Sydney Aquarium before crossing Pyrmont Bridge, or at the west side of the bridge where you’re right next to the Darling Harbour Shopping Mall and Sydney’s Maritime Museum.
