Milsons Point, on the north side of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, is a great spot where you can appreciate the architecture and sheer size of Sydney’s famous landmark. You’ll get a view of Sydney Harbour from Milsons Point that will stay with you for a lifetime, so be sure to bring your camera. And if you’re at Milsons Point around dawn or dusk, the lighting effects and colors then are well worth the extra trouble.

Milsons Point Station is the first City Rail train stop when you travel north over the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and is right next door to the posh north shore suburb of Kirribilli where you can see the official residence of the Australian Prime Minister.

There are several pleasant pubs and restaurants next to the Milsons Point station, on the Kirribilli side. The Milsons Point side of the station are mostly office blocks. But you’re just a short walk from Luna Park, the Aussie amusement park with its giant grinning clown’s face, which is visible from right across the harbour.

There is also an open air public swimming pool, called North Sydney Pool even though it is actually located at Milsons Point. And there is a pier at the waterfront for the Cross-Harbour ferry to and from Circular Quay, Sydney.

And then, on New Year’s Eve every year, Milsons Point becomes one of the most sought-after spots for viewing the 9pm and midnight fireworks displays over Sydney’s famous harbour. (The midnight fireworks herald in the new year, but the 9pm fireworks allow the children to see their own (smaller) fireworks show before they go to bed. Only the grown-ups stay up for the New Year’s celebrations.

Milsons Point is home to several excellent restaurants, some of them with stunning views of Sydney Harbour and the Bridge. These include
