Native Australian Bird SoundsNative Australian bird
sounds are a joy to listen to, especially at the beginning of a
fine new day.
The best loved native Australian bird sounds would incliude the
Kookaburra which changes the pitch of his loud "laugh"
as it echos through the gum trees. That laugh is the best-known
of all Native Australian bird sounds, yet it can be heard
repeatedly on the soundtrack of old Tarzan movies!
The list of native Australian bird sounds includes red
Rosellas and green Lorikeets, delightful small
parrots, which flash by you in colorful pairs. They make little
tinkling noises to each other, and are grain and honey eaters.
A list of Australian birds would be a very long one because we
have so much bird life here, even in the city. Native
Australian birds call out through the trees and rooftops all
day. They are one of the most delightful experiences of being
here in Oz. (Oz = Aussie. .. just part of Australian slang.)
The black and white Australian magpie is a carnivore and
very territorial. They have a delightful warble, which is
slightly different but recognisable from group to group in
different areas of the country. And the black bodied and white
chested Currawong another of the native Australian birds
has a totally different call. They have bright yellow eyes and
eat berries and insects. These are some more native Australian
bird sounds you can expect to hear.
You may just be interested to know that kookaburra and
currawong are Australian Aboriginal names. The language
uses many syllables. Many place names in Australia, such as
Kirribilli (the suburb in Sydney where the Australian
Prime Minister lives), are Aboriginal words.
