Sydney's Amazing Powerhouse Museum

Sydney's Powerhouse Museum is Australia's largest museum. It's at Ultimo, near Darling Harbour, inside a refurbished power station which was built in 1899.

The Powerhouse Museum has a vast collection which began with the remnants of the 1879 International Exhibition, a showcase of technology from around the world that was burnt down.

The Powerhouse Museum has a strong focus on Science and Technology, Arts and Design and Australian Social History. It has some wonderful interactive displays you can see, hear, feel and touch.

You can get to the Powerhouse Museum on foot from Darling Harbour or Chinatown. Or you might choose to get there via the city's Monorail system. Either way is a pleasant experience.
